Cookstown Primary School & King’s Park Primary seize BDO Hockey championships

In a display of outstanding sportsmanship and skill, the young players of Cookstown Primary School and King’s Park Primary and Nursery School were crowned champions in the BDO NI Primary School Pearson and McCloy Cups held at Playball Stormont on 16th and 19th April. Methodist College Belfast and Victoria College Prep were crowned the winners of the Pearson and McCloy Plates.

This, the 5th year of the partnership between Ulster Hockey and BDO NI, showcased the budding talent and competitive spirit of primary school hockey players across the region with over 48 schools taking part.

Ulster Hockey President, Margaret McCormick said,

“The Pearson and McCloy competitions have been running for 48 and 35 years respectively. It is great to see how they have progressed in recent years. I hope all the teams, players coaches and parents enjoyed the matches.

I would also like to thank everyone at Ulster Hockey who has helped organise the events as well as to our sponsors BDO NI who, without their support, it would not be possible."

Laura Jackson, Partner at BDO NI added,

BDO NI are delighted once again to support the Pearson and McCloy primary school hockey festivals. These not only highlight the sporting talent within our local primary schools, but also stresses the importance of sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork in achieving success both on and off the field from a young age- skills that are critical for our future leaders.

Congratulations to Cookstown Primary School and King’s Park Primary and Nursery School and all those that took part across the hockey festivals and final’s days.”
